Arnold NextG redefines steering

20 Jan 2025

After around 140 years of mechanical steering, Arnold NextG is launching the innovative NX Next Motion steer-by-wire system with its proprietary force feedback technology.

Two Cars

This pioneering technology combines precision, safety and driving pleasure. DTM champion Bruno Spengler and the direct comparison with the Tesla Cybertruck are impressive proof of this. ‘With our digital steering system based on the steer-by-wire principle, we have really achieved something ingenious that is unrivalled on the market in this form,’ explains Kevin Arnold, CEO of Arnold NextG. ‘While some players are already withdrawing from the market for autonomous driving and the political tailwind for the German vehicle industry is waning, we are showing that things are really only just getting started.’

Arnold NextG force feedback steering sets standards in comparison test

The force feedback technology from Arnold NextG, protected by numerous patents, sets new standards in its class. This innovation enables precise feedback of road conditions to the driver that cannot be compared with conventional systems. Sensors and actuators simulate exactly the forces that are transmitted to the steering wheel by racks and wheels in mechanical systems. This precise feedback not only increases safety, for example by signalling loss of grip at an early stage, but also offers a more intense driving experience. DTM champion Bruno Spengler describes the experience aptly: ‘I can position the car precisely and feel the grip of my tyres perfectly, even on wet and dirty roads. I completely miss this feeling in the Tesla!’

This was impressively demonstrated on the company's own test track, and not just with the Tesla comparison: Two identical BMW M5s, one with conventional steering and one equipped with the steer-by-wire system from Arnold NextG, competed against each other. Spengler's verdict after the test drives was clear: ‘Driving the two M5s one right after the other is incredible! Especially if you know the base vehicle well, the experience with steer-by-wire is overwhelming.’
