Panel: The Future of Automotive Aftersales: AI, Data and New Revenue Models

10 Sep 2026

How are artificial intelligence, connected vehicle data and software-defined vehicles transforming the automotive aftersales sector? The panel, which took place on 8 September on the HighTech4Mobility stage at Automechanika Frankfurt, highlighted specific areas of application – from guided diagnostics and predictive maintenance to parts logistics and fleet management – as well as the prerequisites for new, data-driven business models.

To begin with, Noriko Suzuki and Dr Daniel Knödler from IBM presented findings from the study “AI in Motion: Reinventing Automotive Aftermarket Sales”.

Participants in the subsequent panel discussion:

  • Patricia Stich (Volkswagen Group Info Services)
  • Ina Bolten-Wegner (IBM)
  • Philippe Colpron (ZF Aftermarket)
  • Philipp Große-Kleimann (MAHLE Lifecycle and Mobility)
  • Jürgen Hasler (ZDK)

The panellists will discuss where AI is already delivering measurable benefits in the market. The focus will be on AI-assisted search and guided diagnostics for garages, predictive maintenance, remote diagnostics, on-demand parts availability, and more efficient appointment and fleet management.
