Thinking the future means shaping the future

How do you define “future”? How do we imagine the future and how do we shape it? What is changing, what are the trends? Harry Gatterer, Managing Director of the Zukunftsinstitut, answers these and other questions in an interview.

According to Gatterer, the future is created within organizations and megatrends such as the "eco proposition", positioning as an ecological company, "friend shoring" in global supply conditions and technosocial working conditions have a strong influence on business decisions and progressive change. But megatrends also help us to gain more stability in our view of the future.

In the interview, Gatterer also points out how important it is to maintain composure and a multi-perspective approach when considering the future in order to make good business decisions. The future is not a one-off workshop, the future is work and needs to be shaped with a sense of proportion.
