Ann-Katrin Klusak: “If you take a look at the streets of Ho Chi Minh City, everyone here seems to be on a scooter with a combustion engine. Here at the trade fair visitors are thrilled by drift challenges and you can hear the engines roaring. When do you think the roads will be dominated by electric motorcycles?”

John Paik: “In two to three years the country will see a big shift to eco-friendly electric mobility solutions. It will have to be driven by the government, but I am sure this will come. The public transport system is not particularly well developed so the people are dependent on individual transport solutions.”

Ann-Katrin Klusak: “Your electric motorcycle series DEUX is well known in Korea and Indonesia already. But you also invest in infrastructure solutions, is that right?”

John Paik: “We are not only focusing on hardware deployment but also investing heavily in software optimization and improvements to its operational and management systems. This includes real-time monitoring of battery exchanges, automated maintenance, and enhancements to user experience, ensuring a seamless and uninterrupted use of electric motorcycles for all riders.”

Ann-Katrin Klusak: “Do you get support from the government in Korea?”

John Paik: “We are a part of the 2024 Regional Zero-Emission Vehicle Transition Brand Project, led by the Ministry of Environment. So our company will install a total of 200 new Battery Swap Stations (BSS) across seven regions nationwide. The initiative will be carried out in close collaboration with local governments in major metropolitan areas such as Seoul and Busan, as well as Seongnam, Changwon, Namyangju, Gumi, and Suwon.”

Ann-Katrin Klusak: “What do you see as most important in the future when it comes to the acceptance of sustainable mobility solutions?”

John Paik: “We need to expand charging infrastructure so that electric motorcycle users can conveniently swap batteries anytime, anywhere. To popularize eco-friendly mobility, we’re committed not only to technological excellence but also to achieving stable and reliable operations.”
